The pricing of each project is done on an individualized basis. This is due to the unique nature of each work. In this section, we will attempt to walk you thru the process of commissioning Joy for a project and outline the approximate range of costs incurred at each step. IMPORTANT!: Please keep in mind that Joy's Expressions can take requests from areas outside of Charlottesville, VA. In the case of wall murals, the mural is completed on canvas and than shipped as a roll. All other art work, except painted furniture, may also be shipped. Shipping charges may apply. |

1. Initial Consultation Free! |
Description: During this phase, Joy's Expressions will listen to your desires for your piece of artwork. This phase may consist of phone calls and personal visits (location dependant). We feel it is critical to involve our clients in this first creative phase to fully understand your desire and vision for the project. We have a number of questions to help guide our time if you are unsure of what you'd like to see. Cost: Free! Although we may spend several hours on this initial phase, we do not wish to hinder it with concerns about initial fees. By the end of this phase, Joy will be ready to put our joint creative ideas on to paper in the form of sketches and layouts. We also will discuss budget expectations during this phase and provide a price range for the final project. |

2. Layout Phase |
Description: During this phase, Joy will develop preliminary sketches. The sketches will be accompanied by color layouts and other visual aides to assist you in visualizing the final work. Cost: $75.00 to $150.00 The cost depends on the scope of the work. For instance, most large mural projects will fall in the upper part of the range. The fee is needed to offset cost of materials and a portion of the time required to prepare the sketches. For larger projects, it is not uncommon for Joy to spend sevaral days preparing the initial sketches. The goal of this phase is to define, to a large extent, what the final project will look like. Once we have agreement on what is to be included in the project, we will provide you a final quote on the work to be completed. This fee will be taken off the final payment upon completion of the project. |

3. Scheduling Work |
Description: Joy's schedule fills rapidly. To hold the date you would like for work to begin, the initial deposit must be received by Joy's Expressions no later than 45 days prior to the start of work. Cost: Initial Deposit is 50% of Final Quote The deposit is fully refundable up to 15 days prior to the start of work. |

4. Completion of Work |
Description: The completion date of the project will be determined once the final quote and start date are defined. During work, you will be able to view the progress either electronically or in person. It is important to note that the work will evolve from start to finish and may at times appear much different than the initial sketches. We encourage questions as the work is being completed. Minor modifications to the original design sketches can be made as work progresses. However, large changes that require additional time will require modifications to the final quoted price. Cost: The remaining balance of the final quoted price is due upon completion of work. The amount will equal 50% of the quoted price minus the fee charged during the layout phase. |
